Asiana’s first Airbus A380 has rolled out from the Airbus paint shop in Hamburg. The aircraft, to be configured with 495 seats, will consist of 12 First Class Suites, 66 Business Smartium Class, and 417 Travel Class (Economy Class). After the delivery in June 2014, Asiana will become the eleventh airlines in the world (right after Qatar Airways) to operate the super jumbo.
Asiana will first deploy the A380 on regional routes with the first flight being that to Tokyo-Narita on June 13. Later on, the plane will be operating flights to Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. Starting July, the A380 will be flying to Los Angeles. Further long haul A380 plans are not yet announced, but it will likely be consisted of North American and European routes.
According to current information, the delivery of Asiana’s A380 may not be as exciting as that of other airlines because of the lack of new products. The First Class Suite has already been introduced on the airline’s 777-200ERs. The Business Smartium Class has also been used since a few years ago while Travel Class should be the same as that of other Asiana wide-bodies.
Nevertheless, Asiana’s A380 will still be a plane of luxury and comfort. The First Class Suite, all allocated on the main deck, will feature two slidable doors, allowing customers to have maximum privacy. The seat can become a 210-cm bed and turn-down service is offered. Each suite will have a 32-inch HD screen along with a small touch screen embedded in the armrest to control different functions of the seat.
The Business Smartium Class will consist of 66 180-degree reclining full-flat seat. The 1-2-1 Staggered Layout configuration allows every passenger to have direct aisle access. Each seat features multiple storage areas and a cocktail table to place objects such as laptops or books. Three-point safety belts are used on these seats to ensure the safety of the passengers.
The Travel Class of Asiana Airlines is one of the best Economy Class in the business. Each seat features personal entertainment system and a foot rest. Asiana offers a generous 34-inch seat pitch in Travel Class, allowing passengers to have the maximum comfort.
In conclusion, Asiana’s A380 shall be one of the top options for travelers regarding its comfortable seats and great services. However, despite the great facilities, >talkairlines still think that the lack of new products will make the Asiana A380 less attracting than its competitors. >talkairlines hopes that Asiana is simply holding on to publicizing further information and will eventually introduce more innovations along with the arrival of this brand new aircraft type.
